The first public beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ran this past weekend on PS4, and now developer Treyarch has outlined some of the changes in the pipeline for the next beta. The second beta is a much bigger one, as it’s coming to Xbox One and PC as well, and there will be cross-platform multiplayer support.

Weekend 2 players can expect a series of changes, including the team deathmatch score limit rising from 75 to 100 “for better match pacing,” as well as a change to the Duster Stock attachment that will slow down sliding speed.

The cooldown on the Spy Plane scorestreak has been increased to lessen the experience of having too many of them in the sky at the same time from different players.

There have also been some general changes to improve the experience, such as join-in-progress now preventing players from joining a match when it’s too close to ending.

A series of bugs have been fixed as well. Different scopes like the Snappoint, Diamondback, and Hawksmoor could block the player’s view while aiming down sights, but this has been fixed. The update also fixes an issue that could prevent players’ names from being visible in the pre-match lobby. You can see the full patch notes below.

Weekend 2 will also feature new maps, weapons, modes, playlists, Scorestreaks, Perks, Wildcards, and equipment, and Treyach will provide a rundown of these new additions soon.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War begins their open Beta on October 8th. The first two days are for Playstation Plus members who have pre-ordered Cold War. In the following two days, the beta is open to all Playstation users regardless of pre-orders. The following weekend beginning October 15th, the cross-platform beta begins for those who have pre-ordered Cold War on Xbox or PC. For this entire second weekend, PS4 players are able to play for free. Let’s go over what changes were made from the alpha into the beta.

A new map named “Cartel” has been added into the mix. It’s available to play in both combined arms mode, as well as multiplayer. This map takes place in Nicaragua and is said to have some ties to Cold War’s Main villain, Perseus. It features rideable motorcycles, a large airplane hanger, and varying levels of terrain. The map also features a prominent recon tower that players can hold down center objectives in. Other changes include the introduction of the ping system, a tactical stim, and the sentry turret scorestreak.

If you reach level 10 of the multiplayer beta, you unlock a blueprint for the Milano 851 submachine gun. The second weekend will feature the brand new Fire Team Dirty Bomb mode. This large-scale mode features up to four teams of 10 that need to plant uranium in designated locations across the map. The uranium is dangerous to hold over long periods and can explode on impact. Play Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Beta Enough And Get An SMG Blueprint

Those who play enough of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One will get an SMG weapon blueprint when the game drops this November. Players just have to reach level 10 to qualify for the freebie.

The weapon is called Mutual Animosity and if the picture is anything to go by, the blueprint may feature a scope and suppressor. Receiving the weapon is as simple as reaching level 10, which can be done by playing any of the available modes when the beta goes live on October 8 for PlayStation 4 preorder customers.

Publisher Activision hinted at what players can expect from the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta, which has two beta weekends running this month. This includes a mix of maps, modes, and playlists. Some game types include Domination, Kill Confirmed, Team Deathmatch, the new 6v6 VIP Escort, and more. The beta will also contain a progression system familiar to Call of Duty fans that lets players unlock loadout options like equipment, scorestreaks, and weapons. Preloading for the beta is now live.

The Mutual Animosity weapon blueprint is not the only goodie players get for participating in the beta. If players hop into a Black Ops Cold War game during the beta on any platform and link their Activision Account to Call of Duty: Mobile, they will receive Russell Adler as a playable Operator in Mobile.

One of the technologies NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang unveiled during the GeForce RTX 30-series launch event was NVIDIA Reflex. For those unfamiliar with it, NVIDIA Reflex is latency reduction technology that’s designed to minimize input lag, sometimes called input latency or end-to-end latency. That’s a fancy way of defining how long it takes for something to happen on-screen after a mouse click or keyboard input.

NVIDIA Reflex works by streamlining a few steps along the rendering pipeline to reduce overall latency. NVIDIA’s software tweaks to enable Reflex make more efficient use of available CPU and GPU resources and minimize driver overhead, which according to NVIDIA, can reduce latency by up to 50% in games that are updated to properly support the technology. That means when a gamer clicks their mouse button to fire a weapon or whips their mouse around to get in a better position with NVIDIA Reflex enabled in a compatible title, in happens faster in-game.

During the GeForce 30-series unveiling, Jensen announced that Reflex Low-Latency Mode is currently being integrated into some esports games, like Apex Legends, Call of Duty: Warzone, Fortnite and Valorant, but that others would be coming.
