With the rise of the asset management industry in Asia, Bloomberg has launched a Buy-side Women’s Network, to form a community of like-minded senior female leaders from the buy-side industry across Asia.

Peter Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg LP, hosted a lunch in Singapore with senior executives from some of Asia’s largest buy-side players to launch the network. The network aims to inspire top female leaders on the future of investing, and to inspire the next generation of buy-side professionals through Bloomberg Startup, an educational program targeting university students.
In April 2019, we launched the India / South Asia chapter of the Bloomberg Women’s Buy-side Network in Mumbai, an informal community of female leaders and aspiring leaders in Asia’s asset management industry.

Through the year, the network conducted a number of bespoke events, workshops and one-on-one mentoring sessions, which provided members with multiple learning and networking opportunities. In August 2020, we inducted the second batch for the mentorship program. Read more here.

In March 2020, we launched the Hong Kong chapter of the network, the latest addition to an expanding buyside community that started in Singapore and expanded to India. As the first women’s buy-side network of its kind in Hong Kong, the chapter will serve as a support system for its members, promote meritocracy and inclusion in the industry, and educate on the diversity of career paths in the buyside through meaningful engagement and active mentorship. The Japan chapter was officially launched in September 2020 at the annual Bloomberg Buy-side Forum Tokyo, a forum for leaders in asset management which featured Japan’s Minister for Environment Shinjiro Koizumi this year. In its initial months, the chapter will introduce key initiatives to convene present and future buy-side female leaders and build this burgeoning community. Read more here.
